Revised Farm Safety Partnership guide "Managing the Safe Receipt of Animal Feed 2023" published

Potentially life-saving guidance to help farm staff and delivery drivers stay safe during feed deliveries has been published by the Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) in collaboration with other industry stakeholders.
The guidance - Managing the Safe Receipt of Animal Feed 2023 - has been revised and published by the Farm Safety Partnership, a group which includes agri-supply industry trade association the AIC, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), National Farmers Union (NFU), NFU Mutual, Country Land and Business Association (CLA) and Tenant Farmers Association (TFA).
Revised Code of Practice
This new publication provides livestock producers with valuable, practical guidance and a useful checklist to help them comply with AIC's Code of Practice for Making Safe Deliveries of Animal Feed to Farms.
The Code, which was published in January 2023, provides detailed information on the requirements to be met to safely accept delivery of animal feeds.
Shared safety responsibility
David Moss, AIC Services Technical Manager, said: "A regular feature of working life for every UK livestock producer is taking delivery of animal feeds either in bulk dry or liquid, or packed in bags and drums.
"Farmers and their feed suppliers have a shared responsibility to make sure that their farm staff and the supplier’s delivery driver are safe whenever animal feed products are delivered to a farm.
"This revised guidance offers valuable information to help everyone involved stay safe."
