Opportunity to get involved in national AI research project for agriculture

A research programme looking into the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in UK agriculture is looking for AIC Member businesses willing to participate as case studies, in addition to industry professionals to join expert working groups.

The below provides further details on the BridgeAI programme, what is required and how to find out more.

Programme overview 

The BridgeAI programme is a £100m programme and fund in collaboration with innovation agencies Innovate UK and Digital Catapult, as well as The Alan Turing Institute - the national institute for data science and artificial intelligence.

The programme seeks to drive the adoption of AI into four industries in the UK which have been identified as having significant opportunity which is not currently being leveraged - Agriculture, Construction, Transport and Creative industries.

It targets AI developers, early-stage companies, and mid to late-stage companies in these sectors who want to develop/adopt AI into their businesses.  

An in-depth case study template document is attached for those Members interested in becoming a case study for the programme.

Expert working groups

Goals and objectives of the groups:

  • Strategic group providing expert guidance and advice to guide programme alignment with AI innovation ecosystem needs in each sector (construction, agriculture, transport and creative)
  • Work collaboratively with other Experts in the group to aid AI adoption in the four target sectors, by identifying common barriers and opportunities that can be addressed by programme activities and mobilisation of the wider innovation ecosystem
  • Help to promote and evangelise the programme

BridgeAI is looking for:

  • Individuals with deep knowledge of their sector ecosystems, and an understanding and interest in AI, digital transformation, technology and innovation more generally.

Operational information:

  • 10-14 hours per year time commitment
  • Quarterly meetings (hybrid and in-person will be offered)
  • Ad-hoc meetings in line with programme milestones (e.g., launch events) and on emergent cross-cutting themes (e.g., responsible AI, explainable AI)
