pEPR Scheme - Duplicate Direct Debit Collections

Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging (pEPR) scheme mistakenly charges producers registered to the scheme.

For members who are liable to make payments under the Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging (pEPR) scheme, a technical issue has led to duplicate direct debit payments being collected in error. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and PackUK are working to resolve the problem and refund affected businesses promptly.

Around 484 businesses had fees collected twice or more due to a direct debit error. The issue appears to affect only organisations that set up a direct debit before 24 November 2025. Other payment methods (bank transfer, credit card, standing order, etc.) are not impacted.

Full refunds will be issued automatically, and no action will be required by affected businesses. However, you may wish to check your accounts to confirm whether you have been affected.
