The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) have published updated biosecurity guidance for poultry keepers following the introduction of the Great Britain-wide Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ). As part of the guidance, poultry keepers are asked to complete a self-assessment biosecurity checklist for their premises.
AIC Services have released their latest Continual Professional Development (CPD) training for advisers registered within the Feed Adviser Register (FAR). This CPD explores the issue of antimicrobial resistance and how good nutrition can form part of the solution to reduce antibiotic use on farm, ensuring livestock remain healthy and build up immunity to disease.
Action has been agreed between AIC, the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) and veterinary profession to ensure that the vet is in control of the diagnosis of any disease in the animals under his/her care and the subsequent medication required. Thus, medicated feed is never delivered until the vet has issued the MFSp to the feed supplier and copied the farmer.
