African swine fever (ASF) is a notifiable animal disease which affects pigs. It does not affect humans and is not the same disease as classical swine fever or swine influenza. AIC continues to monitor the situation closely.
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) have published updated biosecurity guidance for poultry keepers following the introduction of the Great Britain-wide Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ). As part of the guidance, poultry keepers are asked to complete a self-assessment biosecurity checklist for their premises.
