There have been no further substantive developments from Government on the proposed implementation of the UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), with fertiliser businesses still awaiting key information needed to estimate liabilities and price products accordingly.

The European Commission has now published Recommendation 2026/1801 on guidance values for mycotoxins in feed. The Recommendation invites Member States to set up monitoring programmes with the active involvement of feed business operators.

The Government has published information to help businesses prepare for a potential EU-UK Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreement, which is currently under negotiation.

On 9 March, the Government launched a six‑week Call for Information to gather sector‑specific insight on business readiness and the type of support that may be required.

EU CBAM entered its definitive phase on 1 January 2026, and is now a financial obligation for importers, not just a reporting requirement.
