Defra Extends Application Window for Reopened SFI 2024
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has extended the deadline for submitting applications under the reopened SFI 2024 scheme. Farmers now have until 23:59 on Monday, 1 September 2025 to complete their applications.
Farmers who are eligible for the extension are those who:
-
have started an application and have contacted the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) during the reopened application period (which runs from 7 July to 18 August 2025), or
-
have an outstanding request with the RPA to update their mapping in support of their re-opened SFI 2024 application, or
-
have submitted an application above the £9,300 cap (if applicable) and have not yet submitted a second application.
The RPA will be contacting eligible applicants directly and will publish a set of FAQs on GOV.UK to support the process.
