Common sense prevails for fertiliser testing
“This is a real step forward”, comments AIC Fertiliser Sector Head, Jo Gilbertson. “Restricting testing just to the UK would run the risk of placing unnecessary additional pressure on fertiliser supply. The current system works well so we are delighted that we have found a practical solution”.
DEFRA will now draft a Statutory Instrument to amend Detonation Resistance Test legislation which AIC expects to be laid before Parliament by autumn.
AIC has also secured agreement for leeway on bag labelling to allow the use of existing bags with EC labelling after January 2023. “This agreement has also come as a welcome development”, says Mr Gilbertson, “It’s a sensible and practical decision allowing the sector to use up any EC marked bags as long as the contents and tare are correctly labelled”.
