The Coronavirus Act 2020 became law on 25 th March and is in place for two years. This is emergency legislation that gives the governments throughout the UK wide-ranging powers to take actions in connection with coronavirus, if such actions are found to be necessary.

The Office of Traffic Commissioners has issued a message regarding incidents in which drivers have been refused access to handwashing and toilet facilities when making deliveries.
G20-043 Temporary derogation on Bulk Transport 27 Mar 2020
AIC has been made aware that, as a result of Coronavirus, some suppliers to scheme participants are struggling to find sufficient bulk haulage capacity from companies certified to schemes recognised by AIC. To ease this potential bottleneck, AIC will temporarily allow bulk transport to be provided by a certified participant of any scheme that is a member of the International Committee for Road Transport (ICRT), subject to the AIC participant continuing to ensure that AIC requirements on previous 3 loads are maintained.
G20-039 ADR relaxation on expiry dates 26 Mar 2020
The UK has signed a multilateral agreement that looks to address some of the ADR driver shortages by providing a relaxation on the expiry dates of ADR driver licences till November 2020. The agreement is attached with this briefing.
S20-008 Applications for spring pea derogation 26 Mar 2020
Due to some spring pea germination issues and a number of requests from industry, AIC has applied to Defra for a derogation on germination. Defra has confirmed the formal request has been received by the Commission, and the letter to industry from APHA is attached to this briefing.
G20-040 AIC member guidance template for letter confirming essential worker status for employees critical to the maintenance of the food and feed supply chain 26 Mar 2020
There have been a number of requests from our members to help with providing documentary evidence of essential worker status. Members are concerned that their staff may be challenged by third parties (police, others enforcing current Government restrictions and fuel forecourt staff, etc) when they are travelling to or from work or out on essential business.
