About Sustainability

A key part of AIC’s policy work is dedicated to sustainability. This area has seen considerable Member and stakeholder interest, and national and international policy development in recent years.

There are increasing pressures on all businesses to ensure their success is not built on the exploitation of the environment or society. AIC developed its first Roadmap for a Sustainable Food Chain in response to these challenges so that Members can build a more resilient future.

AIC's work identifies, assesses and communicates national and international issues which may impact the competitiveness of the UK agri-supply industry, and which could affect the long-term sustainability of UK farming and food production.

Our Objectives

AIC seeks to support its Member organisations’ interests through providing a combination of support and services, including:

  • Lobbying
  • Technical knowledge
  • Training and certification
  • Developing and signposting to resources
  • Sharing information and statistics

AIC's work on sustainability provides the many valuable benefits to its Members:

  • Views represented within industry forums and cross industry bodies
  • Opportunities for alignment with evolving internal and external policies and other initiatives
  • Sharing examples of good sustainable practice and opportunities for benchmarking
  • Promotion of the agri-supply industry’s strong commitments towards sustainability
