Spring 26 Edition of UFAS Update Newsletter - Out Now

The winter/spring 2026 edition of the UFAS Update - the newsletter of the Universal Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS) - is now available to download.

In this issue:

  • Launch of the AIC Sustainable Commodities Scheme (ASCS)AIC has launched the ASCS, an industry‑developed certification scheme designed to help feed sector businesses meet evolving regulatory and market requirements for deforestation‑free and conversion‑free supply chains.

  • Latest UFAS undesirables (dioxins & mycotoxins) results published: AIC has released findings from the 2024 undesirables testing programme.

  • GB Register for Feed Additives – ongoing corrections and collaboration: The new GB Register (live since April 2025) has required multiple corrections where widely used additives were removed from the authorised list. Participants are urged to review the Register and report any missing yet critical additives to AIC.

  • PATH-SAFE outcomes and feed sector findings: The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has published the results from the four‑year PATH‑SAFE programme, which included feed sampling supported by AIC and Members.

Simon Williams is Technical Manager for AIC Services. He is based at AIC Head Office, Peterborough and is responsible for the management and coordination of the FEMAS and UFAS assurance schemes as well as being the key contact for mutual recognition with European scheme owners and managing Earned Recognition relationships with UK feed and food competent authorities.

Previous to his role with AIC, Simon was employed in a variety of technical roles in the food industry covering primary and further processing of meat, breakfast cereals and a product technologist role with a major retailer.
