What does a normal day look like in your job?
My day can involve fieldwalking, talking to farmers and making recommendations, as well as attending technical events and manufacturer showcases.
How did you get into this role?
Interest and an extension of my hobby; gardening.
What skills or qualities matter most in your job?
A good understanding of plant mechanics, perseverance, an interest in agriculture, and enthusiasm.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Talking to growers and meeting people are what I enjoy most.
I like having a freelance-style working life, but with the safety net and technical backing of my employer.
What advice would you give someone thinking about this career?
It doesn’t really matter what background you come from. It can sometimes be harder if you weren’t born into farming, but if you’re genuinely interested and enthusiastic, that shouldn’t stop you from pursuing a career in the industry.
