Lumpy Skin Disease: import of milk and dairy products from Spain

Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) has suspended the import of the following bovine products from Spain:

  • live animals

  • germplasm

  • offal (except diaphragm and masseter muscles)

  • raw milk and raw dairy products, including raw colostrum

  • certain animal by-products (including hides and skins) unless processed to mitigate the risk of lumpy skin disease

This is due to an outbreak of lumpy skin disease in Spain that was confirmed on 3 October 2025.  Equivalent measures remain in place for France and Italy owing to recent outbreaks of LSD in these countries.

Please see Imports, exports and EU trade of animals and animal products: topical issues for more information on these restrictions.
