AIC Publishes Updated UKFRC FAQ Following the Government’s Deforestation Announcement

AIC has published an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on the UK Forest Risk Commodity Regulation (UKFRC), following the UK Government’s announcement on 23 June 2026 outlining plans to introduce new rules to tackle illegal deforestation in GB supply chains.

In response, AIC has updated its UKFRC FAQ to reflect the latest policy position and to help members understand the potential implications for their businesses. The updated resource highlights key areas from the announcement, including:

  • the commodities and businesses likely to fall within scope

  • the proposed due diligence requirements and reporting obligations

  • potential differences between the GB regime and EUDR

  • areas where further detail and clarification are needed

The updated FAQ also outlines considerations for supply chains, particularly in relation to traceability, geolocation data, and the practical challenges associated with compliance.

AIC will continue to engage with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) to seek further clarity on the details of the proposed regime, including areas of uncertainty identified following the announcement.

Work to update the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) FAQ is also ongoing and will be finalised and published as soon as possible.

Further updates will be shared with Members as more information becomes available, including details of the forthcoming consultation.

Members can access the updated FAQ via the AIC website here.
