For all those interested in the delivery of advice to farm. Defra announced forty areas across England, identified as priority areas for focused attention on action to reduce diffuse pollution from agriculture.

General G05-126 - UFAS Scheme 2005 Launch 16 Dec 2005

The new UFAS Scheme documents where published in December and come into force from 1st January 2006. As with previous updates, non-conformances against new requirements will be noted as observations until 31st March 2006.

General G05-125 - GB Poultry Register 15 Dec 2005

The Great Britain Poultry Register opened on 9 December. Defra, the Scottish Executive and the Welsh Assembly Government, backed by the poultry industry, has established this register to gather essential information about certain species of birds only held on commercial premises in Great Britain. This information will help reduce the impact of an outbreak of avian influenza.

The new Work and Families Bill sets out plans to extend maternity and paternity leave. It also aims to improve communication between employers and employees over the maternity leave period.

G05-122 -Feeding Stuffs -England- Regulations 2005 09 Dec 2005

The FSA has advised that the Feeding Stuffs England Regulations 2005 SI 2005 No. 3281, to consolidate the Feeding Stuffs Regulations 2000 and the seven amendments thereto, were signed by the responsible Minister on 28 November and laid before Parliament on 5 December.
