Legislation being introduced under the Animal By-Products Regulation No. 1774-2002 requires the registration of all premises that handle milk and milk based products that will be fed to all farmed animals.

General G06-008 - Identification of Barley Varieties from the Grain - one day NIAB Course 20 Jan 2006
This practical course, for all involved in the transport, trading, marketing and processing of barley, will teach the grain characters used to identify varieties and introduce the new varieties added to the HGCA Recommended Lists for 2006. The aim of the course is to teach delegates how to identify barley varieties using a x10 x20 hand lens or low magnification microscope and refresh those with previous experience. At the end of the course delegates will be able to identify most varieties from the visual characters of the grain.

Packaging for animal feeds and premixtures used in animal feeds should not be classified as hazardous for waste disposal. Recent changes in the hazardous waste regulations together with rulings from the Health and Safety Executive have clarified this position.

Defra is running these meetings jointly with the Health Protection Agency, the Health and Safety Executive, the State Veterinary Service and the poultry industry.
