Update: Cattle Health Incident Under Investigation

After our previous statement regarding the cattle health incident currently under investigation, we would like to share a brief update.

Following the isolation of the affected feed, the authorities notified AIC last week that they have approved a disposal route for the affected feed. At this time, AIC has not received any reports of additional farms being impacted.

We have remained in close contact with all the farming unions across the UK to ensure alignment and support for affected Members.

In the coming weeks, we will be seeking meetings with the relevant authorities to review the incident and discuss key learnings that can help strengthen future preparedness and response efforts.

For background information on botulism in farmed ruminants, please refer to the guidance published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) here.

AIC will continue to keep Members informed and will share further updates as more information becomes available.
