GMP+ International issue Early Warning for Aflatoxin B1 in Maize from USA

GMP+ International has issued an alert to their participants in relation to a shipment of maize originating in the USA with elevated levels of Alfatoxin B1. Although the levels are below the legal maximum for feed materials (20ppb), results have been received above the legal limit for dairy feed (5ppb), making this shipment a potential risk for suppliers to dairy farms.

The full details of the GMP+ alert can be found on their website here. AIC members and participants are advised to refer to the FEMAS Maize Aflatoxin Sector Note for information on sampling, analysis and communication of results through the supply chain.
