Confirmation of AIC RED Module positive assessment

At a meeting of the RED (Renewable Energy Directive) II Committee on the Sustainability of Biofuels, Bioliquids and Biomass Fuels last week the positive assessment of the AIC RED Module implemented through the TASCC and UFAS schemes was confirmed. Eleven other schemes including Red Tractor and Scottish Quality Cereals) also received approval, with the details available on the EU Commission website. The Commission expects the formal adoption and publication of these decisions to take place by the end of the first quarter of 2022, and AIC will keep members and participants informed.

Simon Williams is Technical Manager for AIC Services. He is based at AIC Head Office, Peterborough and is responsible for the management and coordination of the FEMAS and UFAS assurance schemes as well as being the key contact for mutual recognition with European scheme owners and managing Earned Recognition relationships with UK feed and food competent authorities.

Previous to his role with AIC, Simon was employed in a variety of technical roles in the food industry covering primary and further processing of meat, breakfast cereals and a product technologist role with a major retailer.
