AIC Engages With Scottish Policymakers and Business Leaders in Edinburgh

AIC Chief Executive Robert Sheasby has spent the past two days in Edinburgh engaging with Scottish policymakers and business leaders on issues relating to economic growth, business partnership and the role of industry in addressing shared challenges.

The engagement included attendance at a Scottish National Party (SNP) reception with Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and an SNP business event, where discussions centred on creating the conditions for economic growth and strengthening collaboration between government and industry.

Speaking at the business event, First Minister John Swinney highlighted the importance of working with businesses to help solve problems and support economic growth. Discussions throughout the programme also explored Scotland's role in supporting economic development, strengthening links with Europe and creating an environment in which businesses can thrive.

Stephen Gethins MSP, Minister for Business and Europe, spoke about the need for a reset in relations with Europe and the part Scotland can play in supporting both economic growth and stronger European engagement.

The programme brought together representatives from a range of sectors and organisations, including AstraZeneca, the Scottish Retail Consortium, Prosper and the Scotch Whisky Association, to discuss growth, investment and Scotland's economic future.

During the visit, AIC took the opportunity to share key messages from its manifesto with First Minister John Swinney and Deputy First Minister Jenny Gilruth MSP. Discussions highlighted the importance of resilient agricultural supply chains and the contribution they make to Scotland's economy.

AIC looks forward to continuing engagement with policymakers and stakeholders on these issues in the months ahead.
