Updated Maize Aflatoxin Protocol December 2022
2022-0233
Following the record breaking temperatures and droughts across Europe during the summer of 2022 it was to be expected that some countries would see increased levels of Aflatoxin in their maize harvest.
In response to the latest results from the 2022 harvest, and other market intelligence the participating scheme owners (AIC, EFISC-GTP, GMP+ International, OVOCOM FCA and QS) have agreed to make the following changes:
- Italy moves from Medium to HIGH
- France (South)* moves from Low to MEDIUM (The remainder of France remains Low)
These changes will require increased sampling and analysis for maize and maize co-products from these origins, with the results reported to buyers
In addition the following change is also made:
- Ukraine moves from Medium to LOW
