Updated FEMAS Sector Note - Distilling & Malting


The guidance and additional requirements for FEMAS Participants producing co-products from malting and distilling for use in animal feed have been updated. Participants will need to consider this updated Sector Note and update internal checklists, associated documentation, and procedures accordingly.
The document should be read in full to ensure all Sector requirements are met. The updated sections in this version for Participant consideration and action include the following sections of the Standard:

Raw Materials and Raw Material Suppliers - C 1.3, C 1.5 and C 1.6 have been updated to include reference to and consideration of the Assured UK Malt (AUKM) Scheme

Premises - G 1.1 includes requirements for Participants to consider hazards associated with outdoor storage of feed.

The updated Sector Note applies to businesses from 8 September 2025.
