Updated FEMAS Maize Aflatoxin Protocol

2022-0185

FEMAS Sector Note 15 - Maize Aflatoxin monitoring Sept 2022

In common with previous years, AIC in conjunction with EFISC-GTP, GMP+ International, OVOCOM FCA and QS have published a new Maize Aflatoxin protocol to coincide with the 2022 northern hemisphere harvest.

As a result, a number of countries have been moved from Low Risk to Medium Risk, requiring additional sampling and analysis, as well as obliging suppliers to provide customers with results for product delivered.

The protocol can be viewed and downloaded here, and the new risk ratings come into force on the 15th September.

The specific changes are listed below:

  • Canada - Low to Medium
  • Czech Republic - Low to Medium
  • Hungary - Low to Medium
  • Spain - Low to Medium
  • Ukraine - Low to Medium

The scheme owners will continue to review available data and country risk ratings will be updated accordingly.
