Senior leaders of UK agricultural businesses are being sought to join an influential industry partnership with government to create a more productive and sustainable food and drink sector.

The Food and Drink Sector Council (FDSC) brings together Chief Executives and other senior business leaders from across the agri-food chain to work with Government to address strategic issues facing the industry and maximise opportunities.

The Council is co-chaired by industry and Government - Chair of Cranswick Tim J Smith CBE for the industry, with Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) Minister Mark Spencer MP.

They want to add new voices to the Council, increase business representation and fill gaps by appointing new members to represent agriculture and primary processors, among others.

Membership criteria

FDSC members are senior business leaders (Chief Executives and equivalent) appointed for their standing in the industry, to represent their sector.

The role of members includes representing their sector from their individual perspectives, make constructive and honest contributions in Council discussions, and challenge each other and government.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply emailing a CV to [email protected] by midday on Monday, 27 March.

Tenure is for two years, with the option to renew once. Full details are available on the Cabinet Office website.
