Defra Consultation on Combinable Crop Contracts Across the UK Arable Supply Chain

Following the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) announcement of the consultation on contractual relationships in the UK combinable crops sector, AIC encourages all businesses in the sector to share their experiences and insights.

The consultation aims to build a clearer understanding of current contracting practices and identify opportunities to support fair, transparent and effective relationships across the sector.

To support the industry’s engagement with the consultation, AIC's Ed Barker, Head of Policy recently ran a webinar for its Members, providing background, key themes and considerations. This forms part of the wider benefits available to AIC Members in staying informed and involved in shaping policy developments.

The consultation document and full list of questions are available on Defra’s Citizen Space platform. Responses must be submitted by 4 February 2026.

For more information on AIC’s policy work or to discuss the consultation, please contact AIC’s policy team at [email protected]
