AIC Scotland Visits Galloway & MacLeod
AIC Chair Graeme Logan and Scotland Policy Manager Ian MacDougall visited AIC Member Galloway & MacLeod recently, where they were hosted by Managing Director Donald Harvey and Account Manager Cameron Millar.
As active Members of AIC, Donald and his colleagues showcased the multi-million-pound growth of the staff-owned company, driven by effective product development and marketing to capitalise on identified growth opportunities. Continued investment in automated equipment, packaging, and storage at their mill in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, is supported by their own fleet of delivery vehicles and contracted logistics, serving a livestock feed customer base across the UK, Ireland, and several other European countries.
Galloway & MacLeod also supply fertiliser and seeds, with plans to expand other areas of the business, building on the success of their online trading platform.
Ian MacDougall, AIC Scotland Policy Manager, commented:
“This was an excellent opportunity to visit a thriving Scottish-owned business that is growing profitably both domestically and internationally. Donald and the team are highly supportive of AIC’s work in Scotland and across the UK.
We had a lively and informative discussion about future engagement with government and stakeholders, focusing on the contributions of both the AIC team and the members who support our committees.
One of my key takeaways was the collaborative approach the company takes in working alongside other AIC members, creating mutual business benefits for all involved.”
