Feed F06-003 - Organic Food: New Regulation will Improve Clarity for Consumers and Farmers 04 Jan 2006
On 21 December, the Commission issued a press release announcing a new draft regulation on organic production, which aims to improve clarity for both consumers and farmers. Organic Farming Unit, Defra will be circulating the text of the proposal along with a consultation document for comment.

Feed F06-001 - Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2006 03 Jan 2006
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) has advised that the Veterinary Medicines Regulations (VM Regulations) 2005, which came into operation from 31 October onwards (reference F05-131), will be revoked and replaced with amended legislation during 2006. The consultation period for the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2006 will begin during March and the new Regulations will come into force on 1 October 2006.

We are sorry to report the death of Mr RH (Roddie) Messer aged 88. Roddie was President of BASAM, one of AICÃ¢Â?Â?s predecessor associations, in 1974/75.
General G05-132 - The Pesticides (Maximum Residue Levels in Crops, Food and Feedingstuffs) (England and Wales) Regulations 2005 22 Dec 2005
The Regulations which come into force on 22nd December 2005 specify maximum levels of pesticide residues which crops, food and feedingstuffs may contain in implementation of Council Directive 76/895/EEC relating to fruit and vegetables, Council Directive 86/362/EEC and Council Directive 86/363/EEC as regards cereals and products of animal origin, and Council Directive 90/642/EEC as regards certain products of plant origin (including fruit and vegetables), as amended.
