AIC is, through its Seeds Sector Chairman, working with BSPB to develop a quality mark for Plant Breeders’ Rights. The concept is being driven by the idea of a promotional campaign for seed based breeding, innovation and quality.
UK Seed Certification
UK Seed Certification As a direct consequence of the Government’s spending review, and the need to cut operational costs, Fera has been working with the industry over the past year to look at how the administration and operation of the UK’s seed certification system might be revised and costs reduced.
AIC produces a wide range of standard form contracts which are available for use by members. Additionally some of these contracts are made available, under licence, to non-members.
In response to issues relating to the poor preparation of seed and poor application of seed treatment product in France, the EU seed industry has been working with seed treatment product manufacturers to develop an assurance scheme, ESTA, to create independently audited standards for companies applying seed treatment chemicals across a wide range of both agricultural and horticultural crops.
AIC has a website dedicated to Brexit providing a wide range of useful information, including regular briefings, meeting reports, sector priorities and links to information from other organisations and stakeholders.
ESA is the voice of the European seed industry, representing the interests of those active in research, breeding, production and marketing of seeds of agricultural, horticultural and ornamental plant species.
