The House of Lords EU Committee have published their review on the implications of Brexit for UK agriculture. AIC provided extensive written evidence to the inquiry which identified the implications for steep increases in tariff barriers if no deal can be agreed. The reports also suggests agriculture and farmers in particular could be hard impacted through the high dependency on the single market, loss of EU subsidies, loss of the EU export markets and access to workers and loss of protection from cheap imports from outside the EU.

AIC identified, in written submission, the importance of trade with the EU and referenced in particular access to vegetable protein for livestock feed, plant protection products and supplies of seed all with significant reliance on imports.
