About the Cross Sector Activities Sector

Our Strategic Objectives
Quite simply the cross sector objective  is to improve the competitive position of AIC member companies within the agricultural supply industry. This is achieved through the implementation of a proactive Strategic Policy Framework, which can be summarised by the following strategic objectives:

1. INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP
AIC seeks to lead environmental, economic and social progress in all sectors of its membership, and work with the food and feed industry to maximise efficiency and cohesion in the supply chain. The agricultural supply industry represents an integral cog in UK food production, which is facing increasingly high demands to feed the population of the future.

AIC must be progressive and demonstrate leadership to ensure that the industry remains at the forefront of best practice and continues to be a constructive contributor to the food supply chain.

2. PROMOTING AGRICULTURAL SUPPLY INDUSTRY'S CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY
Few industries make a greater contribution to the quality of our lives than agriculture. AIC members continue to play a significant role in the delivery of safe, affordable and nutritious food for the public. However there are numerous areas, other than simply food production, where the agricultural supply industry makes a valuable contribution to society. AIC seeks to promote these positive messages with domestic and European governments, stakeholders, the media and general public.

3. INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT
The increasing demands of a projected world population of 9 billion by 2050, coupled with climate change and environmental sensitivities, make it vital for the agricultural supply industry to evolve in a manner that is consistent with these factors. Government must be sufficiently convinced to attribute the necessary resources and policy commitments to research and development in agriculture.  AIC must be progressive in the field of technology and innovation, and seeks to promote the importance of a highly evolved agricultural supply industry in meeting the challenges of the future.

4. CRISIS/SINGLE ISSUE MANAGEMENT
AIC has developed a single issue management plan to ensure that such issues are handled with maximum professionalism and efficiency. The plan is regularly revisited to ensure that it continues to be relevant and progressive and to ensure that,.in the event of a crisis occurring, the overriding strategic objectives are not neglected.
