Sector Priorities

 AIC Crop Protection Sector Priorities 2011 

  • Continue to work with CRD to ensure interpretation and implementation of the Sustainable use Directive and elements of the Regulation for placing plant protection products on the market are proportionate and practical for members
  • The Programme of measures to achieve the requirements of River Basin Management plans within the Water Framework Directive are proportionate and have minimal effect on plant protection product availability and use.

  • Ensure that AIC members understand the requirements of the Campaign for the Farmed Environment and the consequences of non-participation.
    Promote the work of AIC members in supporting the campaign

  • Work with the Metaldehyde Stewardship Group (MSG) to ensure metaldehyde best practice and stewardship messages are practical and disseminated to members.
    Ensure that all methods to address movement of metaldehyde to water are understood and targeted by the MSG

  • Work with HSE to ensure the final text and the implementation of the Marketing and Use of Biocides is presents minimal impact for members

  • Ensure that AIC work is represented and well understood in VI 10th anniversary activities 

  • Work within BASIS Executive group to ensure AIC members' needs are met by BASIS

  • Recruitment of new members to the sector to ensure maximum sector representation and support

  • Continued promotion to Government and agencies of AIC agronomists as a highly skilled, unbiased group capable of delivering on Government schemes and projects

  • Continue to develop relationships for the benefit of sector work with relevant organisations and individuals including CRD, HSE, EA, Water Companies, Natural England, BASIS, NFU, CPA, CLA and Defra.
