Feed Incident - Animal Material in Wheat Feed (1)

AIC is co-operating with Defra's Animal Health office in assessing the scale and impact of a quantity of wheat feed imported from Sweden, thought to contain low levels of terrestrial animal bone, muscle and fish.

Feed Incident - Animal Material in Wheat Feed (2)

Any trailers which may have been used for the transport of wheat feed substantially found to have contained low levels of a quantity of animal material from Sweden will not have invalidated their TASCC status.

London Low Emission Zone Extends Scope

The London Low Emission Zone will be extended on 7th July to include additional vehicles, including lorries between 3.5 and 12 tonnes.

British Survey of Fertiliser Practice Published

The 2007 results from the British Survey of Fertiliser Practice have been published on the Defra website, including nitrogen application rates, as well as usage of phosphate, potash and sulphur.

Use of Bitumen-based Asphalt in AN Stores

At the request of the Health and Safety Executive, AIC has prepared a safety assessment which concludes that there is no evidence that asphalt flooring increases the propagation or intensity of a fire or increases the risk of explosion when compared to the use of concrete.

REACH: Pre-Consortium Established

The European Fertiliser Manufacturers Association is establishing a pre-consortium to define cost and data sharing and prepare for pre-registration under REACH of around 30 substances. (Interested companies were asked to apply by 5th May).
